Due to its strategic location, the terminal has the potential to establish itself as a major hub for Europe and USA cargo. The terminal is a very important node for east-west coastal and EXIM trade and offers an opportunity to serve a large hinterland area including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
