WEATHER CONDITIONS

Climate: Dahej has a tropical savannah climate moderated strongly by the Arabian Sea. The summer begins in early March and lasts until June. April and May are the hottest months.

Temperature: The average maximum temperature is 43°C

 

Monsoon Season – May 15 to September 15. Being all weather port jetty remains operational. Wind: The wind speed during monsoon period is between 20kts to 30kts and wind direction Westerly to SW’ly.

The wind speed during Non-Monsoon 5kts to 15kts and wind direction NE’ly. Terminal may stop cargo operation above 30kts wind as per situation.

REPATRIATION

Crew change is possible by giving prior notice of 03 days in working days. All foreign nationalities on-signers must have valid Indian Visa (transit type) with special endorsement of vessel name & name of port. (The option of “any Indian Port” can be alternatively selected). For foreign nationalities off-signers, an exit visa will be applied as per the flight schedule. Nearest airports are Vadodara & Surat. Dahej being minor port 24 hrs & 365 days Immigration / Custom authorities are not available for crew change. They are available in limited time frame of 1100 hrs to 1730 hrs from Monday to Saturday. Sunday immigration formalities are not possible due to non-availability of immigration officer.

CARGO HANDLING EQUIPMENTS

Import Conveyor: Fully mechanized berths with conveyor handling system for handling coal in bulk at very fast evacuation rate of 4200 MT / Hr.

North Berth - 2 Rail Mounted Liebherr make cranes (SWL – 75 MT each in hook mode).

South Berth - 2 Rail Mounted Gottwald make cranes (SWL – 80 MT each in hook mode).

Grabs: 04 Nos. of Grabs available with a capacity of 42 CBM each at APPPL Terminal.

MAIN CARGO HANDLING

WAREHOUSE AND STORAGE

All dry cargo is stored in open area and no warehouse facilities are available in terminal.
