Pilot Boarding Ground for EBTSL is at 22-30.35’N 069-31.43’E.
A tug will be used for boarding Pilot on to the vessel.
A good lee will be required to be created to ensure safe boarding of pilot.
A good heaving line will require to be kept standby at the Pilot Embarkation area to pick up PPU (Portable Pilot Unit) equipment safely from the tug which will be used for navigation of the ship through the channel till the berth.

Ships are berthed only during turn of tide (near slack water) and preferably during daylight hours.

PORT RADIO AND INFO SERVICE: VHF Channel 16. Fully equipment round the clock signal station.
VHF COMMUNICATION: VHF Channel ‘16/69’ for advice on berthing instructions.
A listening watch shall be maintained on both channels.

92% of the total annual rainfall occurs during the months from June to September. There are, on an average, 24 rainy days per year.
The predominant wind direction between months of October to March during fair weather season is 10 KM/Hour South East-East-North East.
The monsoon months, i.e. April to September, are the windiest months in the area with average wind speed typically in the range of 15 to 20 KM/Hour (South West West).
Normal annual maximum for the area are in the region of 40 KM/Hour in the summer months (South-West).

The tides in the Salaya Harbour region are semi-diurnal in nature with two high and two low waters in each cycle of a day. The spring tidal range is of the order of 6.0 M and the neap tidal range is 3.2.
