Port can handled CAPE SIZE vessels with LOA: 295.00 Metres Beam : 45.00 Metres Draft : 14.00 Metres on High Tides from 10th July 2018.

Middle berth to Berth No. 7 Berths are allocated for general cargos, fertilizer and other all bulk & break-bulk cargos and NRW- 1, 2 & 3 Berths are allocated for general cargo and other all bulk & breakbulk cargos.

 

All the edible oil vessels will be given first preference for berthing at this particular berth and in case it is occupied by another edible oil vessel, then she can be considered for berthing either at North Berth or Middle Berth whichever is available

Port works all days round the clock except during Pongal and Dusserah Festivals when labour will not attend to works for about 6 days in total (3+3). Dates of non-attendance to work for these festivals by labour will be circulated by their unions through local Chamber of Commerce.

LOAD / DISCHARGE FACILITY SPECIFICATION

BY SHIP OR SHORE CRANES

 

Cargo loaded into steel dumb barges of various Owners who set a pool and total number of barges having 89at Kakinada with a carrying capacity varying between 350 to 850 Metric Tons. Out of these 89 barges 9 barges are under repair and presently only 80 barges available to cater to the working vessels.

Shore loaded barges are towed to vessel and cargo loaded into vessels holds by net slings with ships gear operated by stevedores.

 

Vessels works round the clock. Stevedore labour gangs stay onboard continuously. As per Port convention, vessel to provide Fresh water to labour for cooking and drinking.

Working vessels are achieving a load rate of about 1500-2000 M.Tons pwwd only basis 4 working hooks subject to availability of Shippers full cargo ready in Port.

 

No Shore floating crane available. Cargo to be loaded with vessel's cranes operated by Stevedores crane operators.
